Research Your Topic Before Transforming Your Dissertation Into a Book

Research your topic. Before you put one word to paper, decide what you are going to write about. Spend the necessary time gathering all background material you will need. This will make transforming your dissertation into a book easier.
Research requires work but it is necessary work. You do it everyday. Research is simply the gathering of information for a specific project or goal.
As you embark on your research, you will experience many emotions. A discovered item may lead to frustration. Other material may lead to confusion. But keep researching because you will find information that will make all the uncertainty worthwhile.
When you complete your research you may have a hard time incorporating everything you have discovered. Step back a moment. You do not have to put all your research into one book.
Absorb your material. Know it inside out. Not everything should be included in this book. You might have uncovered material for two or three books.
Work on one book at a time.
Meditate on this thought: Wisdom is the principal thing;
Therefore get wisdom.
And in all thy getting,
Get understanding.

Think through what you have. Go over your chapter outlines. Do you have enough information to write without stopping to do additional research? Make a list of questions that will need answering as you complete your book project. Do you have the necessary material to answer those questions? If so, you are ready to begin writing. If not, then take time now to finish your research.
Make sure you understand each aspect of your project before you begin writing your book. If anything is unclear to you, know that it will also be unclear to your audience of readers. Spend the necessary time now doing the research and understanding the material before you write.
You are creating a masterpiece. Do the necessary work to make it so.
